1960: Civil Unrest in Greensboro, as told by North Carolina residents

For a media history class at Elon University, Melissa Kansky and Caitlin O’Donnell chose to focus on the February 1, 1960 sit-in at the Greensboro Woolworths lunch counter. The two students interviewed three staff members from the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. All three individuals lived in North Carolina at the time of the sit-in. They recounted stories of segregation and traditions in North Carolina during the Civil Rights Movement. The blog pages contain more information about the era and the four men who pioneered the sit-in at the Woolworth’s lunch counter.
